Passages like John 6:12, Luke 16:10 and Luke 14:28 push us to be wise in our decision making, and mange our resources frugally. We are called to be good stewards of God's abundance and finances, and that will translate into our business model. What will I be doing if I am accepted?
This answer may seem straightforward, but we assure you that there is much more to the art, skill and labor involved in the process than is properly represented here in a brief Q & A blurb. Once accepted, candidates will assist in four basic ways as follows:
Interviewing: Whenever possible, our staff visit fellow Christians who share their life experiences, both good and bad. We use our journalistic skills and integrity to conduct these interviews in a compassionate, professional manner.
Writing: Once we have completed an interview, our staff then undergoes the delicate process of creating Biblically accurate devotionals based on the experiences that the interviewees have shared with us. We do this through vigorous Bible Study, deep reflection and thoughtful prayer. Despite having a focus on stunning visuals to accompany the words on our site, this is actually the most important aspect of what we do, and we act accordingly.
Photography: High quality photographs are almost as important the Devotionals we include within the site, and our staff works every month to capture top notch photos.
Promotion:
Once the pervious tasks of creating world class devotionals is complete, we then must share our work with the public. Each member of the team uses multiple small business, guerilla and P2P/B2B marketing tactics in order to drive traffic to our website.
What differentiates an Associate Contributor from a Lead Contributor?
A Lead Contributor is skilled enough to write their own Devotional to a company the photos that they submit for publication. An Associate Contributor serves strictly as a photographer who submits their photos for publication. Candidates who start as Associate Contributors and decide to later become Lead Contributors are paid the additional $150 remaining signing bonus upon promotion.
How do we help raise money for charitable organizations?
We are blessed to be able to raise money for Christian causes in two major ways. Faith 21 Photography is partnered with Prints for Praise, a fine art photography division of our company. Below, you can find examples of the art that is for sale with them, and the exact art our readers will see and be available for purchase in the advertisments on the deovotional's website. Prints for Praise uses a fundraising model in which the profits from their art is donated to Christian causes. They also sell their art to non-profits, Churches and other Christian organizations at wholesale prices, sometimes below costs, allowing those organizations the freedom to set their own fundraising prices and put the money directly into the organization's pockets. We are also partnered with a greeting card company that donates a portion of their profits to causes related to the Armed Forces. Based upon the sound legal, accounting and business advice we have received, as future growth allows this devotional will be registered as a 503(c)non-profit corporation.
These are just a small sample of the exact ads and products our readers will be able to purchase through our site courtesy of Prints for Praise.
How will the non-profit earn revenue?
The business model is the standard, tried and time tested business model within the media industry. The following synopsis is our model in a nutshell. We work hard to create and publish moving, high quality devotionals then drive traffic to our site. Our readers frequent our site, clicking our strategically placed ads. Every time our website visitors click an advertisement or make a purchase from our gracious sponsors, we receive Ad & Sales income. It is that cut and dry. Also, we have additional revenue streams such as ad supported photography books and merchandise revenue, which we can safely detail more in depth as candidates progress further into the hiring process. And while this is certainly a simplified explanation as there is always an element of nuance when business decisions are involved, this is a completely accurate description of business operations. Most importantly, we have already secured a long term advertising agreement with an established Fine Wall Art Printing Company and a Greeting Card Company.
The catch is you will have to work hard to succeed. Yes, traveling around to different places and events researching, scouting, planning & photographing subjects can be extremely fun, exciting and full of adventure. However, anything worth doing is not often easy. As a general rule of thumb, photography and business/non-profit mangament have many difficult aspects to overcome. It will take a significant amount of time to produce a quality body of work, promote it, build a strong following and turn it into profit. It will not happen overnight. However, If you are able to outlast the competition and set yourself apart from the crowd, the end result can be very rewarding. In closing, below we have included just a few eye opening statistics compiled from the the Small Business Administration and U.S. Census Bureau that help illustrate the unique and specific challenges that accompany small business proprietorship:
- 26% of all business fail within the first year.
- 14% of non-profits fail before 12 months, 42% will become non-functioning zombie organizations by year three.
- 47% of all businesses lose money in their first fiscal year.
- The median time for a business to reach financial solvency and turn a profit in the U.S. is 20 months.
If any if these statistics or possible outcomes are facts that you cannot handle, business ownership likely may not be suited for you, and furthermore you may want to reconsider submitting your application.
Yes, in fact there is. We are proud and blessed to be able to extend this opportunity for everyone who is interested from every socioeconomic background and class. No, not at all. You are a human. Humans make mistakes. We believe in second chances and in most cases, third or fourth ones too. It's O.K. to have said or done things that you regret, that have been misconstrued or are unpopular. We're really not concerned about the silly anti-Obama or anti-Trump tweet you made, the embarrassing whatever video or any other speech or action deemed offensive by some. Just be honest and tell us. Disclosure is key. We will address any concerns we may have directly with you one on one and evaluate your situation fairly, on an individual basis. To error is a human quality, to forgive and accept does not seem to be.
Simple. Tell your friend or relative, and if we hire them we will pay you $50 cash, check or Square. It's that easy.
Certainly. This position is on a limited part-time schedule.
